About Me

I'm Slade, a self-taught full-stack developer based in South Africa.

I started learning to code in mid-2025 with no prior experience — just curiosity and a lot of time in the terminal. In under a year I went from zero to building full-stack applications with custom authentication, REST APIs, and real databases. Not because I followed a curriculum, but because I kept asking "how does this actually work?" and refused to stop until I had an answer.

That curiosity is how I work. I don't copy-paste solutions. I dig in, figure out the fundamentals, and build things properly.

Outside of web development I'm deep into Linux — I daily drive Arch (btw) with a custom Hyprland setup — and I'm learning ethical hacking and security in my spare time. I'm drawn to understanding how systems work at a lower level, which makes me a better developer at every level above it.

What I build tends to be practical. A CRM for a real estate business. A local UI for testing language models. A restaurant site with smooth transitions and a real reservations flow. I'm not interested in impressive-looking demos that don't do anything — I care about software that actually works for the people using it.

If you're a business that needs something built, or a team looking for someone who learns fast and takes the work seriously — I'd love to talk.
